 Subject: Powering My Track
 Question?
I wanted to have a little more power for my two lane Scalextric track. When I run Fly Brand cars on the track their is a noticable power loss over the Scalextric Cars. I have purchased another small track set so I would have a second power supply. Is their any secret to making that work. I was going to install it half way around the track from the existing power supply. Do you have other methods of  boosting the power around the track? The cars are so much faster when they have plenty of juice.
 Answer:
To power each lane individually you can use two powerbases as long as they are the  same polarity (direction of travel) You would then plug power supply one into powerbase one and the controller into lane one. Power supply two would be plugged into powerbase two and the controller into lane two. You would now have  separate power to lane one and two through the individual powerbases. It is important if using switchable powerbases not to reverse the direction of one lane as this is a direct short circuit. Power issues around the circuit are a different problem and can be solved in two ways, first when assembling the circuit do not complete the last track connection as this can hide poor connections. Now drive the car slowly around the track until it gets back to the  broken connection by the powerbase, if the car slows or stops on the circuit check the connection where it stops and adjust. When you are happy the car runs around to the broken connection join up this last piece and you will have a good running track. Also you can buy C252 power booster cables that allow you to jump power around the track to cure soft power on long circuits, this should be done after checking for poor connections and not used to hide this problem.

 Subject: Banked curves
 Question?
I would  like to bank my 4 corners on my Indy replica layout. The straights are made up of 6 14in. track and the 4 corners have a 14in track in between them. Would your banked curves work on this layout? What is the degree of banking? Do they have or need some kind of support behind them? And are they 45 or 90 degrees( How many make a circle). I appreciate your time in answering

 Answer:
The C187 Banked Turn needs three pieces to turn 180 degrees, you can not turn 90 degrees. We do not recommend the C187 turn for use with any cars designed after 1995, these newer cars are designed with a low ground clearance. Because of that and the tight radius of the C187 bank the chassis touches and lifts the car out of the slot. You can bank our standard and outer curves about 10 degree's as long as you make a permanent base and attach the track down to the base.

Subject: Compatibility with old Revell track
 Question?
When I was a kid in the sixties I had a Revell track that was loads of fun. Now I'd like to pick up the hobby again. I would like to know if the new Scalextric cars are compatible with this old track? And if they  are, what would the power requirements be for a power supply?
 Answer:
Our cars will run fine on old Revell track although you may find you need silicone tires, we also sell silicone tires under the brand name Scaleracing. For more information and our Dealer List check our web site. All the cars we sell run on 12v to 14.5v dc, you can buy good power supplies from companies such as Radio Shack.

 Subject: Slot-It Wheels
 Question?
What tires fit on the Slot-It  wheels? I would like to buy a pro axle setup or two, and since they don't come with tires, what would work?
 Answer:
Scaleracing makes silicone tires in four sizes you can see them listed on  our web site. Also remember you will need to purchase one SIPA 06 wrench to tighten the allen screws.

Subject: Scalextric compatible with other cars and tracks
 Question?
Is your track and cars compatible with other 1/32 racing cars and tracks.
  Answer:
Scalextric cars will run on most slot car tracks either 1/32 or 1/24, also most other brand cars will run well on our track system. The most you have to do on some older slot cars is trim the guide  if they hit the bottom of our slot.

 Subject: Stronger Gears
  Question?
I'm a slot car enthusiast and race numerous times a week. I bought a cheetah motor for my car and every time I run it for 10 minutes I blow all the teeth off the rear axle gear.
  Answer:
Thank you for your e-mail, you could try using Slot It gears only for your hopped up cars, these will be able to handle more power than the stock gears.

 Subject: Replacing Old Metal Rails
Question?
I have a Scalextric 1/32 track. I'm interested to know if I can puchase the "rails" for the track. I have over 100ft. of track and I have ruined (rusted and bent) rails on about 12 pieces of standard curve. As the  "plastic" is still like new, I'd like to replace the rails without the expense of purchasing all new track pieces. I need rails for 12 pieces of standard curve (C-151), and 6 pieces of standard straight (C-160).
 Answer:
We do not sell the rails on their own for Scalextric track, however it is possible to get all but the worst rusted track into usable condition. The best way to clean rusty rails is with a  Scotchbrite pad, then clean with WD 40 and wipe off, the problem with this is surface rust will reappear while not in use. We also sell a track cleaning eraser from Pink Kar for $5.99.

Subject: Using UK sets in the United States
 Question?
I have a Scalextric set that I brought with me from the UK and I need to know if the power supply/controls for US sets will work with it.
 Answer:
To use a UK Scalextric set that incorporates the Powerbase system all you  will need is C977W a US power supply. If you have an older set you will need a powerbase and controller to connect to the powerbase as well as the C977W power supply.

Subject: Power for a Large Track
Question?
How large can I go on my home set before I need more power so that the power is even.
 Answer:
How big of a layout depends more on the quality of the track connections, than the length of  the track. You should use one power supply per lane to avoid voltage spikes, and on large layouts C252 power booster can be used to jump power around the layout. You should not use this item to hide poor connection however.
